I remember when I was 18 years old my Dad said to me there are a few things that you must have to get along. My parents were divorced. He always said the 3 things to him were Money, Sex and lack of understanding. If you don't have those it won't work. You have to have respect my husband and I had that and we talked over everything. i managed all the money all the time mainly because I did a better job than he would of and he knew that. There will always be bumps in marriages. Compromise being a big one and for my husband and myself if one of us was having an issue with the other he never talked to anyone about that other than myself. I did the same for him. That is respect. I hear others talk about their husbands or husbands mention something about their wife. To me they shouldn't do that because it undermines things. I think. They should only talk to each other about problems. Leave others out of it. That is the best way to do it. We were together for 38 years and we made out fine. I have been a widow for over 8 years now and I am happy with that. I wouldn't mind a good friend but I would not bother getting married again.
