375 North Maple Road Ann Arbor
In a ground-breaking charity initiative, Plum Market, in partnership with S.A.Y. Detroit, will roll out Brown Bag Popcorn on Tuesday, May 15 at its Bloomfield (3675 W. Maple Rd) and West Bloomfield (6565 Orchard Lake Rd) stores at 11:30 am and 1 pm, respectively, and at its Detroit Metro Airport location. The roll out continues on Saturday, May 19 at Plum Market’s two Ann Arbor locations at 3 pm (3601 Plymouth Rd) and at 4 pm (375 N. Maple Rd). S.A.Y. Detroit founder Mitch Albom will greet customers at each Ann Arbor and Oakland County store; demos will also be taking place at the locations.
Brown Bag Popcorn is the latest offering from S.A.Y. Detroit’s Detroit Water Ice Factory, now in its third year. A gourmet food product, Brown Bag Popcorn is available in six delicious flavors, such as Cheese Louise’’ and “Caramelicious.” With locations in downtown Detroit near Campus Martius, and its summer operation at the Franklin Cider Mill, the retail operation follows the “Paul Newman’s Own’’ model of philanthropy. All profits from Plum Market’s sale of the popcorn will be donated to the nonprofit programs of S.A.Y. Detroit, which serves Detroit’s neediest citizens, from infants to seniors.
“Plum Market is beyond excited to be a part of a partnership that greatly benefits the community and drives long-lasting change in Detroit,” Plum Market CEO Matt Jonna said.
Added Albom: “We are thrilled and humbled by Plum Market’s interest in our products. Starting from the back of a small shop to reach the shelves of a major food market retailer is testament not only to the delicious products made by our team, but to the belief that doing good and helping others can be contagious.”
The charitable collaboration between Plum Market and S.A.Y. Detroit will continue as additional food products – such as the DWIF’s “Iced Pudding’’ and “Motown Mash” desserts — are added to the shelves at Plum Market in the coming months.
