This strikes a cord with me. Younger people do not always give respect. Sometimes you have someone shows respect towards older people. When I worked in a retirement home they often make fun of one another. "She can't do this anymore or she doesn't know what she is doing." I found working in a retirement community the most gratifying work. I have the fondest memories. Lots of wisdom there and helpfulness. I was 30 years old when I started there and most could not effectively work with the elderly at my age then I enjoyed it. It is rude to make fun of a population that may have some challenges. After all we will all be there one day. The ones that think it is pretty funny to make fun of their elders will one day be old themselves. Yes there is plenty of prejudice for us older workers. Don't you know we don't know anything. It gets old being harassed. I get very little if any respect for having over 20+ years at this job. I agree this should be a subject that comes up for discussion. Like I said it strikes a cord with me.
