I see a few people that hold up signs where I live. Not much once in awhile. I just got done giving a couple of free items from the store to one young person. It saddens me to see someone do this. Giving money to them is not the answer because of so many programs that have been put in place. Panhandling should not be a way of life either. I watched and did see a few people stop to talk to him maybe they also gave. I don't know. Like a housing blight we should think about targeting such individuals get them off the street by getting the right programs and job training needed for them. It should become someones job to do this. When they see such an individual then he should be approached and someone step in to give them the choices and resources they need to better their life. I just don't believe someone should ever I mean ever have to stand on a corner and hold a sign that says "I'm hungry". Not in this great country of ours. If they need counseling then they must go. I don't believe that giving money and walking away is the answer.
