An amazing book, and although fiction, very close to the “truth.” My father was born in Thessaloniki and was in the Greek army when captured. We are Sephardic and he described the city as a dynamic Jewish home until the war. His entire family and most friends were killed by the nazi’s; even the survivors lost everything. After surviving Auschwitz, Dachau and other camps, my father was put back into the army to fight in the Greek civil war after WWII. He finally left Greece in 1948, eventually married my mother and they moved to the Los Angeles area. Your descriptions of life before, immediately after, and in the subsequent years, were spot on. You made me gasp when you spoke of the “Home of Peace” cemetery in the LA area. My father, grandmother, several other family members and many Greek survivors of my youth, are buried there. I cannot tell you how much I loved this book, the message it provides, and the important story it tells. Thank you so much.

The Little Liar. You are a fabulous author – I am so sad that I have finished this book and I am going to read it again to be sure I didn’t miss a thing. So many times while reading I was struck by the wonderful way you use words. It’s like poetry. I have read a lot of your books and am always recommending them to friends. I looked forward so much to this one coming out and of course I wasn’t disappointed. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !
