Jack Lemmon won the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his performance as Morrie Schwartz in ‘Tuesdays with Morrie,’ his final television role. In addition to thanking his co-star Hank Azaria, Oprah Winfrey, and the film’s director, cast and crew, Lemmon said:
“I promised Mitch Albom on the phone that if I were lucky enough to receive this that I’d thank him for laying the bricks with that magnificent story that he wrote. And I do. He laid the bricks. It’s all him.”
The award was his second Emmy. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe for his role, and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Lead.
