Beware of impersonating email and accounts

May 15, 2026 | News | 0 comments

It has been brought to our attention that a potential phishing email from mitchalbom.books@gmail.com has been circulating with an invitation to join a private reading group (the body of the email is below.) This is not a real email from Mitch Albom. This is not a real email address. As per the FAQ, the only public email address is malbom@freepress.com. Newsletters are sent from webmaster@mitchalbom.com. This is part of an unfortunate rise in often AI-driven social media bot and spam accounts and content, and email scams. The Author’s Guild has also addressed it.

All else are fake and SPAM and should be blocked and reported.

If you receive an email from any email address that does not come from @mitchalbom.com, please report it as SPAM / phishing to your email provider.

How to report in Gmail:

You can also let us know the fake sender and message using the contact form, but it is extremely helpful if you report it directly to your email provider as the recipient.

Here is the SPAM email we were made aware of:

Hello,

I’m Mitch Albom. Over the years, through my columns and books like Tuesdays with Morrie, I’ve learned that the most important things in life usually happen in the quiet moments between people.

I’m writing to you because I believe that some of the best stories in the world aren’t the ones being shouted about on billboards—they’re the ones being written by authors who care deeply about their craft, even when the world feels a bit too loud to hear them.

A few colleagues and I have formed a private “shared reading circle.” We’re looking for stories with a soul—works that explore the bigger questions of faith, time, and purpose. We want to help those stories “travel” beyond the bookshelf.

If you’ve put your heart into a book, I’d be honored to take a look. I don’t need a polished pitch or a marketing blurb. I’d much rather you just tell me what inspired you to write it in the first place.

You can simply reply with the title or a link, and I’ll find it. If you’re curious about the lessons I’ve been trying to share in my own work lately, you can find my path here: amazon.com/author/mitchalbom

This is just a simple effort of writers looking out for one another. I hope to hear the story behind your story.

With gratitude,

Mitch
