June A Time to Help Project at Lipke Center

blankThe closed Lipke Recreation Center will reopen as the S.A.Y. (Sports, Academics, Youth) Detroit Play Center after repairs and refurbishment. In partnership with SAY Detroit a 501(c) (3) non-profit, the city of Detroit, and Score7 Charitable Fund, the center will engage underserved youth in a unique approach to motivational learning. Students aged 8 to 18 who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and school attendance or enroll in the on-site daily tutoring program to meet program requirements will have access to the center resources, including the sports facilities, Note for Notes recording studio and multi-media learning center.

June 6, 2015 | 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Project scope: Cleaning activities: wall surfaces: hallways, lockers, gym, restrooms, kitchen, trash removal, sweeping, mopping.

Project Location: Lipke Recreation Center | 19320 Van Dyke Avenue | Detroit, MI 48234 | Map

Parking: Residential street / parking lot

Volunteers: Bring your own work gloves/plastic gloves and any janitorial items such as brooms, dustpans, sponge mops, all purpose cleaners/disinfectants (Simple Green, 409, Windex, etc.), buckets, rags, sponges, trash bags, trash containers, step ladders.
